There are presently 17 sisters living in the community in House Maria Theresia, who are involved in various areas of work: e.g. in teaching in the Montessori kindergarten, in the Association for Psycho-Social Needs Amadea (day care centre for the elderly and needy), in the house for accompaniment, in the mission office, in the archive, in the sewing room, in the liturgy, in administration, in pastoral care for the sick and in playing the organ.
After the first sisters arrived in Ɖakovo in 1868, this house was the first Provincial House. The building was constructed at the time of Bishop Josip Juraj Strossmayer. Mother Maria Theresa herself visited this house four times.
The house was confiscated during communism and later returned to the Province.
