Visitation in Shangwu 21- 22 February 2024

This community of sisters has been living in Shangwu since 1963. In the spirit of Father Theodosius’ guiding principle “The need of the time is the will of God”, the sisters have repeatedly taken on new challenges in this economically weak area.

Sister Miljenka and her team run a day care centre for elderly and partially physically impaired people from the surrounding area to relieve the burden on their working relatives. However, the centre is also open to healthy older people who come here on a half-day basis for activation therapy.

Every afternoon, children from poor families attend tutoring and support classes. The different generations living together under one roof is enriching and strengthens the sense of community.

Sister Magdalena is involved in parish work and has been commissioned by the state to provide pastoral care in prisons in the district of Taitung together with a team of lay employees.

Sister Martha works as a catechist and supports Sister Miljenka with the work in and around the house.

Three guest rooms are available for overnight stays. The hospitality of the sisters, the warmth of the young and older people present and the beautiful surroundings motivate guests to return to the sisters in Shangwu again and again for a shorter or longer holiday.
