The First Week in Đakovo

The four Sisters visited the two large communities in Đakovo : the Provincial House Community and the Community of elderly Sisters.

The Provincial House Community has existed since 1908, the Community of the elderly and sick sisters, St Joseph, since 1929. At present, 59 sisters belong to the community of St Joseph.

There are now 37 sisters living in the Provincial House Community. They engage themselves in the various areas such as the refectory, laundry, sacristy, kitchen, garden, guest rooms, archives, library, museum and choir, etc.

Individual sisters work in the school (religion teaching), in the parish, in the Archbishop’s Mission Office, organize days of recollection for young people and work with the Franciscan Youth (FRAMA) in Bethany House.

Mother Amadea is a great inspiration for all the sisters in the Province. The sisters live their devotion to God and are committed to the needy and to people who need help.

We are grateful for this first week, which was richly filled with many experiences.
