The community on the island of Vis

Vis is a small island, about 90 square kilometres in size, with a rocky coastline that is 77 kilometres long, with a population of about 3,600 inhabitants. It is located on the open sea.

The community on the island of Vis was the first to be founded outside Đakovo in 1884, during the lifetime of Blessed Mother M. Theresa Scherer. The sisters have been working here uninterruptedly for 140 years. It was originally a poorhouse, later a home for the elderly and invalid persons.

One of the two sisters works as the nurse in charge in the old people’s home. The people on the island greatly appreciate our sisters.
