Kankebong community started in 1995. It is about 10 kilometers away from Kalimpong. The sisters are engaged in faith formation, education for the children, health care and women empowerment. With the help of the people an existing hall was renovated and converted into two classrooms where Primary school was started in 1996 March with 82 children in Lower Kindergarten and upper Kindergarten.
At present there are 84 students up to Standard five. Many people are migrating to town area for work and children are admitted in town schools. A dispensary is functioning well under the care of Sr. Maria Tamang.
There are three sisters in the community and they participate actively in the parish work, house visit and faith formation of the people.
