The community was founded on 16 June 2015 and the hostel was opened for the female students of St. Xavier’s College run by the Jesuits of Patna. There is a positive collaboration with the Jesuits as Sr. Grace Pamplaniyil also teaches English at the college. There are currently 66 female students at the boarding school.
In another part of the house, called Asha Deep Home, there are 14 children, mainly hearing impaired, who go to our school at the Asha Deep Rehabilitation Centre. As they need special care, they have a safe place here where they are looked after.
Two sisters (Sr. Alice Abraham and Sr. Kripa Felix) look after the children, students and the house.
As it is Diwali holidays, no children and students were present during the visitation.
The two junior sisters, Sr. Silwanti and Sr. Lily Kripa, are attending college in Patna to study economics and sociology.
On All Souls’ Day, we visited the graves of the deceased sisters at the Queen of the Apostles Church, Kurji parish cemetery. I was surprised to see how many sisters had been buried here in recent years.
