Holiday home of the Holy Cross Sisters, Klagenfurt

Since September 1999, after the sale of the former sanatorium of the Sisters of the Holy Cross ‘Maria Hilf’ and a renovation, a small community has been living in the former doctors’ villa. The house is surrounded by a large garden adjacent to the park of the ‘Maria Hilf’ private hospital, with which the sisters still maintain a good relationship.

In addition to pastoral care in the private hospital, one sister is also responsible for the chapel and sacristy of the private hospital.

It is still a popular place for sisters’ holidays, for so-called “ Schmerzpatienten” (pain patients), who receive a special pain therapy lasting over 4 weeks in the private hospital.

The sisters are open to the different people who come to the hospital. Each one contributes to creating a good atmosphere.

When priests from India or Africa come to the diocese, they first spend 3 months with our sisters, who introduce and accompany them in learning German and in celebrating Mass in German. Two Indian priests from South India are currently here.
