Sr. Dorothee reports from Bokaro

Holy Cross Convent Bokaro

Bokaro is an industrial belt with steel plant and other small industries. Most of the land is occupied by the steel plant and Indian railway. Majority of people are migrants. Years ago the people forced the sisters to start English Medium School.

Eight sisters belong to the community and are all involved in a school way. The school is located on a large school campus with pre-primary, primary and high school. A few pictures give a small impression.

Holy Cross Theresa Niketan, Balidh, Bokaro

There are different groups of tribals, Hindus, Muslims and Christians who are very poor, working on daily wages in steel plant or in small factories

The two sisters, Sister Augusta and Sr. Irma, live in the midst of this region and are engaged in a variety of ways for the people, especially to support and encourage women. They drive daily to the nearby villages.
