Most of the elderly European missionaries live in this community, which has been independent for two years. Almost all of them came to Brazil between 1968 and 1973. With great trust in God and enthusiasm, they began their missionary work. According to their abilities, they are involved in common tasks in their own community and in the Vicariate House. Only one sister is bedridden and is cared for by co-workers.
For more than 20 years, one of the elderly sisters has been giving women in the third stage of life the opportunity to talk about life and its challenges and to encourage each other in what is often a difficult everyday life. The community superior is also the vicariate treasurer.
Even in their old age, our missionaries have remained young at heart and show great interest in the work of their younger Brazilian sisters, accompanying them with love and loyalty through their apostolate of prayer. They enthusiastically tell us about the country and the people with whom they have worked over the past decades and years. We are all grateful for the work and lives of these sisters.
