Sadar Hospital Community, Hazaribag

This is the first branch of the Holy Cross Sisters in Hazaribag. In 1939, at the request of the Bishop of Ranchi, two sisters came to Hazaribag to care for the sick in the newly built government hospital and to start a mission in the city.

In 1940, thanks to a generous donation from an English woman, a small convent was built for the sisters on the hospital grounds, where the two sisters still live today.

One sister works on a contract basis at the Center for HIV/AIDS Antiretroviral Therapy (ART), while the second, elderly sister takes care of the house and carries out the apostolate of prayer.

The sisters have rendered many services to the poor and sick and continue to do so.

The community is a spiritual cell in the middle of the hospital grounds.
