Prabhat Tara School is a well-known and structured educational institution of Holy Cross sisters in Muzaffarpur city and the diocese with full-fledged English and Hindi medium sections up to Higher secondary schooling. There are 8 sisters and two candidates in the community to carry out the mission which started back in 1950.
It was enriching for us to visit most of the students, who are 3214 all in all and their subject teachers in their respective classrooms which are spread over in 6 buildings. They received us with joy through programmes of cultural and spiritual significance and welcoming messages depicted in their classrooms. The Charism of our congregation is well respected and carried out by the teaching and non-teaching staff of the entire school system. It is challenging to keep the rhythm of the entire arrangement, from receiving the students in the morning until they are returned to their guardians. The admission pressure is a big concern for the sisters. The community recently started a nonformal education programme for the neighbouring poor children.
The community is also the centre for Muzaffarpur Holy Cross sisters’ Society which caters to the administrative and charitable needs of the 30 units of the province.
