Meeting with the Co-Members on 24.02.2024

We were delighted to have a meeting with the lay community (co-members) of the Holy Cross Sisters in Taiwan as part of our visitation in Dshen dee.

Sr. Andy Gu is responsible for this group, which Sr. Ai Tschüen Wu and Sr. Jermia Thoma founded in 1998. 15 members came to the meeting, plus 6 women who were received into the group today after the 2-year introductory phase and 6 women who are in the preparation phase. The various activities of the lay community over the past two years were presented in a Power Point presentation. We were impressed by the commitment towards the sisters and the social and pastoral activities.

The 6 women were accepted as members during vespers. Sr. Andy called them by name and Sr. Michelle Huang presented them with a light. After the prayer of St. Francis, “Lord, make me an instrument of your peace”, the women placed the candles on the altar.

After a sumptuous dinner, the women performed various folk dances, to which the sisters were invited to join in. The evening ended with the cutting and savouring of the cake on the occasion of the Chinese New Year.
