Krapina 16 – 17 April 2024

The sisters in Krapina belong to the parish St. Nicholas. There are three elderly sisters but very energetic in their apostolate in the parish. The parish priest and the faithful very much appreciate the presence of the sisters and their commitment to the church. The sisters are actively involved in the various services: sacristy, church choir, catechism, youth ministry etc. They have also a small garden with vegetables and flowers.

In 1949, at the invitation of the parish priest Josip Orlić, the sisters took care of the furnishing of the church and the organ service in the parish of St Nicholas in Krapina. At first they lived in the rectory. In 1961, they bought a neighbouring house and founded a new community. In addition to their work in the parish, the sisters sewed quilts, made wreaths for First Communion and produced various handicrafts to earn a living.

In order to help the employed parents who had nowhere to put their small children, the sisters started a crèche in 1968. This activity was discontinued in 2005, but the sisters continued other parish services: sacristy, church singing, parish catechesis, youth ministry.

For a time, the sisters from this community went to the Franciscan monastery, where they ran the household for the Franciscans. This ministry was abolished in 2004. The sisters still work in the parish of St Nikola in Krapina and help people in various needs.
