Holy Cross Convent, St. Joseph’s Bhawan, is located in Bettiah and was founded on March 19, 2003. The community consists of 8 sisters. Here they have one English Meduim School and a Teacher’s Training College.
The idea to start St. Joseph English Medium School came from a request by Rev. Bishop Victor Thakur, the Bishop of Bettiah at the time, along with the local community. After considering the needs of the area, the sisters realized that opening an english medium school would greatly improve the quality of life for the people. The school currently has 2,090 students from Kinder Garten to class XII. This school exclusively educates girls.
The Teacher’s Training College was established in 1926. In 2026 it will 100 years. The college has attracted students from various states for education and professional development. At present, the college has 100 enrolled students. After their training some of them get Govenment job and others teach in private schools.
