Holy Cross Convent, Nayakhar, Nagaruntari, was established in 1974 and has been committed to the educational and social development of the local community since its inception. The institution currently operates a school offering classes from 1 to 10, with a total enrollment of 525 students.
The convent also runs a hostel that provides accommodation for 40 girls. These children come from poor and socially backward families. Most of their parents are illiterate and earn their livelihood through agricultural labor.
The school staff includes two Sisters and one candidate who are actively involved in teaching. In addition, one Sister is responsible for managing the house and overseeing the daily operations of the convent and farm.
To support the needs of the community and promote self-sufficiency, the Sisters cultivate various crops such as vegetables, paddy, wheat, and other cereals in the convent fields.
