Holy Cross Convent, Lalgarh, 21-24.11.2024

Lalgarh is located outside Bettiah. A home for the elderly and disabled was founded in 1975. A farmhouse was converted into living quarters and a chapel was set up for weekly Eucharistic celebrations. The sisters were involved in promoting literacy among adults and children.

Today there is a Hindi medium high school from pre-primary to 10th grade with over 560 students.

There is also a large farm in Lalgarh with cattle, fields, ponds and fruit trees which is looked after by more than 15 workers under the supervision of a sister. This means that some people from the surrounding area can be employed on a regular basis, and so-called day labourers are also used during harvest times.

Due to the structural damage, a new convent was built in 2022 and inaugurated in 2023. The old building was partly demolished and the other part serves as accommodation for the teachers who come from Jharkhand.
