HOLY CROSS CONVENT, DARBHANGA , 12 to 15 November 2024

Two candidates delighted us with their traditional welcome dance. In the afternoon, the general visitation began with the opening prayer. Later, we discussed the latest information from our congregation using a PowerPoint presentation. With gratitude we were able to experience the work of God in our provinces, vicariates and House USA.

The sisters are involved in various apostolates. As the sisters have been caring for the poorest since the beginning of their ministry in Darbhanga and the students are excellently prepared for further studies after finishing school. The sisters enjoy a great reputation among the population.

At the pre-primary school, children are taught from the age of 3 until they start school. As the children receive lessons in Hindi and English from the moment they start school, the school is very popular with parents. We were impressed by the confidence and high quality of the children’s dance and presentation performances.

The visit to Holy Cross School fell on Children’s Day. Normally, students take centre stage on this day. The teachers, staff and students together presented a wonderful programme for the visit of the Superior General. The Mithilanchal culture of the regional ethnic group took centre stage.

Every day, poor students from the neighbourhood come to the sisters’ house in the late afternoon. They are allowed to attend tution classes here free of charge. The sisters are also involved in the parish, visiting the sick and neighbours, and also provide food when needed.
