Holy Cross College Community, Ambikapur

In 1971, the sisters opened the Holy Cross Women’s College in Ambikapur. At present, around 1,700 young women are studying at the college, of which 465 women live in the college hostel.

The NACC (National Assessment and Accreditation Council) has awarded the college an A rating. This allows students to study for a Master’s degree in mathematics, computer science, natural sciences, economics and arts, among others. The college is also a recognized research center.

Eight sisters live in the community belonging to the college. In addition to the principal, three sisters teach and the fifth sister is responsible for bookkeeping. While the youngest sister studies at the college, the other two sisters look after the young women living in the hostel on campus.

Our visit to the campus ended with a cultural program that inspired and inspired the audience. Based on the encyclical “Laudato Si”, a group of students addressed environmental issues and showed how people and nature can be used in an ecologically sustainable way.
