The name ‘HBK’ refers to the House of the Croatian Bishops’ Conference. The architects responsible for the impressive and modern building are the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Zagreb.
In addition to the priests who live in this house, meetings and various gatherings at archdiocesan, diocesan and other levels take place here almost every day. In parallel to the Croatian Catholic Radio, other Catholic institutions have also found a permanent workspace here.
The presence and activities of the small community of sisters in this centre are of great importance. Three sisters presently work in the administration and the kitchen. They also work with the staff to look after the premises. The building is flooded with light, but the many corridors and windows also mean a lot of work for the sisters and staff. Depending on the events taking place, the sisters walk up to 20,000 steps a day.
