Sr. Marija Brizar, superior general and Sr Dorothee Halbach will be visiting the USA province from 19th May to 14th June 2016.
The theme of the visitation: “Give expression to the tender Mercy of God” is inspired by the “Year of Mercy” proclaimed by Pope Francis.
Personal conversation with the individual sisters, visits, units of sharing and discussion with the sisters in Merrill, Green Bay and Metairie in the State of Louisiana will concretize the chosen theme and bring it into relation with the given local situation.
The USA province, with the provincial house in Merrill, was founded in 1954. As early as March 1912 the first six sisters took up their service in a hospital in North Dakota. The history of the hundred years’ presence of our sisters there from 1912 to 2012 is an impressive witness to their dedication and variegated engagement.
In spite of their advanced age and the lack of new members, our 27 sisters get involved in various activities according to their possibilities, and strife to give lively and creative answers to the questions of our time. A group of associates came into being years ago. They share the charism of our sisters and try to live it in the reality of their everyday life.
During the time of the visitation, the annual “provincial gathering” will take place as well. This gathering lasts several days – from 6th to 10th June – and deals with questions and issues of the province. It also offers an opportunity to meet with the group of the associates.
