Two sisters are involved in the prayer and street apostolate in Salzburg
Sister Veronika Maria Krenn was a librarian at the hospital in Wels until 2002. Since the end of July 2002 she has been living in the centre of the tourist area in a rented accommodation belonging to the Archdiocese of Salzburg.
Sr. Christa Maria Krenn worked as a sacristan at St. John’s Church on Imbergstiege, Salzburg, from 1996 to the end of June 2020. On the roads, on the way to the Church, while shopping… she is always approached by many people. This prayer and street apostolate, also via email, is still a big part of her everyday life.
Strasswalchen
A small community of three sisters live in the kindergarten in Strasswalchen. Although they have reached retirement age, they continue to support the kindergarten in various ways. The presence of the sisters is greatly appreciated by both the nursery school teachers and the children.
On 11 August 1937, the first Sister of the Holy Cross moved to Strasswalchen and began her work as a teacher with a kindergarten group. From 15 November 1938 to May 1945, the kindergarten was run by the National Socialists. However, the Sisters of the Holy Cross were allowed to take it over again on 17 July 1945. In 1961/62, a building plot was purchased for a larger kindergarten. Since 2002, the kindergarten has been run by the Holy Cross Sisters’ school association. Both the kindergarten and the Sisters’ section were completely renovated in 2004/2005.
