Community in Kopanka

The Kopanka community has a historical significance. This is the house where Bl. Sr. Zdenka spent her last two weeks after being released from the prison in Prague. This was the house of her friend Apolonia who took in Sr. Zdenka when the communists confiscated all the convents. From this house, Apolonia took her to the city hospital where she died and was buried in Trnava common graveyard which was later exhumed as the city authorities wanted to remove all the graves from this place for other purposes. In this process, some of her remains which remained intact led to the beatification process. This year we celebrate the 70th death anniversary of Bl. Sr. Zdenka.

Apolonia who later became Sr. Lucia Galisová, gave this house as a gift to Holy Cross sisters. Sr. Zdenka’s room is the present chapel of the Kopanka convent. The road across the kindergarten is named as Zdenka Road as a sign of homage to her exemplary life.

Kopanka community has 3 sisters who are engaged in the Kindergarten of the Province which has 65 lively children. The parents are attracted to our Kindergarten where sisters dedicate themselves completely to the well-being and growth of the children and offer accompaniment for the parents in their various concerns. They have a good relationship with the neighbourhood as well as with the religious of other congregations around Trnava.
