European Meeting of Juniorate Sisters

A Week of Encounters

The European meeting of Juniorate Sisters takes place every two years. This year it was prepared by a team of Sisters of the province of Baden-Württemberg in Hegne on Lake Constance. Its central theme was: „You have descended down to the source“.

In Hegne, 31 Sisters, Juniorate Sisters with their tutors, spent the week together from August 12th to 19th.

Beside the sessions on the theme, there was still enough space for sharing and for prayer, both communitarian and personal.

The strengthening awareness of not being alone on our way was felt throughout, as well as the felt experience of the mutual support in our vocation as Sisters of Mercy of the Holy Cross and the lived plurality of an international community.

„The Spirit of the Gospel unites us in love. It effects unity in plurality, that unity, for which Christ had prayed …“ (cf. Constitutions, art. 3)

Starting from the year 1991 already, the juniorate sisters have come together with their tutors in different European provinces of the Congregation: in the Motherprovince of Switzerland, in the Province of Central Europe, in the Province of Croatia, in the Province of Slovakia, and in the Province of Baden-Württemberg.

Two years from now, the sisters will be hosted by the Czech Province.

Then, too, it will be again: Hearty Welcome!
