Donji Miholjac (26 -27 April)

This community was established on 21 August 1899. The first sisters taught in a primary school and lived in the schoolhouse.   The Province built the present house in 1963 and renovated it in 2002-2003.

When the communists came to power, the sisters had to leave their work in the school. For a long time they were then able to live in the presbytery, where they ran the household, church singing, the organ and sacristy and gave private lessons. From 1973 to 1991 they looked after children in our house. During the war in Croatia, they worked for Caritas. One sister then started teaching religion in school.

There are 5 sisters living in the community. They work in the parish and in the school. They are very well accepted by the population. They have a missionary group that does a lot for the mission in Benin, as well as organising so-called ‘Marian meals’ since 2017
