Chulu

On Saturday morning, we travelled with Sr. Jermia Thoma to Chulu, where she has been in charge (almost like a Parish Priest) of the Parish for 27 years. To our surprise, we were greeted by two young boys with brooms and dustpans, as their family was responsible for decorating and cleaning the church that week.

In addition to her parish, Sr. Jermia also looks after some remote mountain villages. We had the opportunity to celebrate a solemn Liturgy of the Word service in the parlor of an old woman, which moved us deeply.

On Sunday morning we attended the parish service. Due to the Chinese New Year holidays, many parishioners were away with their families, so few people joined in the celebrations.

We were invited to a sumptuous lunch, to which all the parishioners present contributed delicious dishes.

On the way back to the Vicariates House  in Malan, we visited the burial site of our sisters in the Christian cemetery on the outskirts of Taitung.
