Maria Bildstein is a Marian pilgrimage place on the Benkner Büchel near Benken in the Swiss canton of St. Gallen. It has a pilgrimage church, a Calvary hill, a picture gallery, a priest’s house and numerous grottos and chapels. The Sisters of the Holy Cross have been working here in Maria Bildstein for about 15 years, living in the former priest’s house and serving as the first contact persons.
Sr. Erasmus also gives courses in icon painting and Sr. Dominique travels to the Bad Ragaz holiday home three days a week to cook.
The Maria Bildstein pilgrimage Centre is run by a private church foundation in Benken, which employs the two sisters and pays their salaries.
