Holy Cross Convent, Katukona

Holy Cross Convent, Katukona, was established on 29 December 1983. The area is a tribal belt, with the Kharia tribe forming the majority. The people are simple and hardworking, though many are illiterate and poor.

There are four sisters working in the school. The school is up to the 10th grade, with about 650 children and 20 teachers. It is a recognized school; Classes 1 to 5 are government-aided, and the students receive all the benefits provided by the government. About 95% of the students are Catholics. The sisters and teachers are dedicated and hardworking, and as a result, the students achieve good academic results.

There are 22 children in the hostel. From Katukona, there are 10 sisters in our congregation. This area is a cradle of vocations, and many priests and religious from here serve in various congregations.
