The former Provincial House of the Upper Austria-Salzburg Province in Linz has been caring for sisters who are elderly and are in need of care for a long time. Originally, these sisters were integrated into the Provincial House community. Since 1996 it has been a separate community.
As there has been no sister to take on the role of a superior, for a year now, the head of nursing is also the head of the community for the sisters and their needs in St Maria. Two women support the sisters in their day-to-day lives, such as accompanying them to the doctors, shopping, assisting with visits, etc.
There are currently 20 sisters in the community. Their main task is the apostolate of prayer for the congregation, the church and the world.
The sisters feel that they are lovingly and competently looked after and cared for by a total of 16 secular employees.
The care centre is the point of contact for the medical and nursing needs and emergencies of the sisters at the Linz area.
