This mission station has 7 sisters who are engaged in active social work, pre-primary education, Collaboration with the parish school, and pastoral care. 38% of the Masaurhi population are marginalized Dalits and Mahadalits ( the lower castes). They struggle with caste discrimination, gender inequality and poverty. Through outreach social activities like tailoring skills, grown up girls and women of low caste community are empowered. 23 trained leaders of the local area are in turn training the school going children in special coaching centers as they are not able to catch up with the school teaching. The sisters are grateful to Manos Unidas who supports the social activities with their projects.
There are only 25 catholic families. The sisters actively engage in faith formation of the Catholics and in leading the choir on special occasions. The sisters plan for house visits and counselling to keep the catholic families in good faith. The mission in Masaurhi is a true witness to living out our Charism of “Compassionate love to the underprivileged.”
