The International Union of Superiors General (UISG) in Rome, on the occasion of its 50th year of jubilee in 2015, launched an inter-congregational and international project to accompany migrants in Sicily. Our congregation has been involved in this project from the beginning. Among the first ten sisters from eight different congregations was Sr. Veera Bara from the Vicariate of Uganda. Sr. Veera was very committed to help out the migrants from both African and Asian countries. She took the motto of the UISG project to heart: to be a bridge builder for the migrants and the Italian population. After completing five years in this project, she returned to Uganda to take up her new role in the Vicariate.
